.Yoel was influenced deeply by the unique philosophy and history of the ancient Essenes that lived on the same soils in the desert some more than 2000 years ago. Motifs from the bible and spirits of the Essenes are found in his works (see the article on the Essenes) For the last 20 years Yoel works and sculptures with natural stone and bronze in his studio in kibutz Kalia at the foothill of the Qumran Caves where the famous original bible scrolls where found, by the shores of the Dead Sea.
